Inspired by
30-day challenges undertaking by
Matt Cutts from Google, I want to start with a 7-day challenge myself. I intend to cut off all the news I read during waking hours. Just like its pointed in Matt's site, if the news is important, it will reach me through word of mouth through friends and family.
Every day, I spend time reading the following news sites:
Bloomberg,
CNN,
Cricinfo,
BBC; and following technical sites:
Stackoverflow,
Slashdot,
Hacker News,
Ars Technica,
Wired.
In addition, I spend time responding to emails on Gmail & Yahoo accounts. Its easy to realize that I spend lot of time online. Clearly, on many days, my productivity is at rock bottom.
Therefore, I am taking up this challenge with the intention to cut off all the above sites for the next 7 days [from April 11-18]. I will continue checking/writing emails, but will not visit any of the above news/techie sites.
I'll record my observations here during the challenge period. Lets see.
